The SSRF
| The primary purpose of the Southern Soldiers Remembrance Fund (SSRF) is to place Veterans Administration markers on unmarked Confederate graves. We're a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated and approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission. This corporation was founded by Jim Phelps, with the help of two of his colleagues, Bill Ward and Terry Stucky. The SSRF is committed to ensuring that the memory of those brave men, who gave so much, will never be forgotten. We believe that it is our duty to remember each Confederate soldier by creating a lasting memorial for his final resting place. We are honored to have local historian and published author, Chris Ferguson, join our ranks. He is our historical research specialist and we could not accomplish what we do without him. We are also honored to have John Parks as a new member of our research staff. His expertise has already proved to be invaluable. A very special thanks to Robert E. Lee Krick with the National Park Service here in Richmond. He's been a wonderful resource and has been able to locate many soldiers who are buried in Richmond's Oakwood, Hollywood and Shockoe Cemeteries. He's also been able to confirm that the final resting place for other soldiers is unknown. Bob's expertise is greatly appreciated and highly valued ~ thanks Bob! |
